Celebrating achievements – Message from our CEO
We had a fantastic celebration of the achievements of customers, staff and our community partners at our Annual Awards recently.
We were privileged to have the Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers, the Honourable Luke Donnellan MP, attend the awards as our special guest.
Minister Donnellan presented the customer awards to people we support for their achievements and spoke on the importance of the high quality of services we provide.
This Annual Awards was also the last for Mark Burrowes, who has led us as Director and Chair for 10 years. The Board has appointed David Lloyd Jones as our new Chair, and Marcell Judkins as Deputy Chair.
Mark has led us with vision and determination, and his conviction in making sure our customers were at the centre of all our decisions has been critical as we transitioned to the NDIS.
It’s also been exciting to watch our children’s therapy services grow this year. Across Melbourne, we’ve opened dedicated Therapy Centres where children and their families can easily access services from our therapy team.
These family-friendly spaces also offer us the ability to host group therapy services, parent education sessions, parent support programs and special events.
Scope’s therapists work with families in a partnership that focuses on a child’s individual needs and goals. It’s about getting to know each child, their world, and their dreams for the future.
The experience and knowledge of our therapists empowers families as they raise their child in these critical early years. They become a part of their network of support – a community with the child at the centre.
Finally, I wish you and your families a safe and happy Christmas and New Year.
Dr Jennifer Fitzgerald
