In these changing times, we are here to support you – Message from our CEO
As we all adjust to this ‘new normal’ and find ways to continue our lives while keeping safe, it’s becoming clear that getting through this time will be more of a marathon than a sprint.
Speaking to people with disabilities and their families over this period, it has been reinforced for me just how resilient this community is in the face of a challenge.
Rest assured that we are with you every step of the way, and that we are unwavering in our commitment to support you in the delivery of our mission.
As times get tough, so does our resolve as a community. We will keep supporting each other with compassion and empathy as we walk this path together.
Communication Access research
At times like this, communication and access to information is more important than ever. As a speech pathologist in Scope’s Communication and Inclusion Resource Centre, Georgia Burn is passionate about the access and inclusion of people with communication disability.
Thanks to the Strategic Research Scholarship from the University of Melbourne and support from the Jack Hogan Family Foundation, Georgia will now explore the features of Communication Access for people with communication disability as she completes a PhD.
The Strategic Research Scholarship is a professional development opportunity for Scope staff through our partnership with the University of Melbourne.
Georgia wants to use her research to contribute to a more inclusive and accessible community for all, and I have no doubt she will.
I also believe that the challenges we face together now have the potential to result in us building a better more inclusive community.
So, stay safe, keep positive. We are all here for you.
Dr Jennifer Fitzgerald
