A few words from board member Marcell Judkins

In the five years since I joined Board, Scope has grown significantly as a mission-based organisation.

I am very proud to be associated with such a well-respected organisation supporting over 6,000 clients annually to live as equal and empowered citizens.

The Board and Executive have worked together over this time to develop and clearly communicate Scope’s strategic plan. This approach has proven to be invaluable in our challenge to deliver on our mission, to advocate for those living with disability and to influence the sector for positive change.

The establishment of Home@Scope and the transition of 231 houses and 1,200 customers into our organisation has been a mammoth task over the last couple of years. Whilst there is still some way to go, we can reflect on our achievement thus far, and the positive feedback received from our new customers during the transition.

2020 was a challenging time for all of us as we dealt with the challenges and restrictions of COVID-19. Management and staff at Scope have done an outstanding job in keeping our residents and program participants safe during this time and have continued to provide a very high level of support services in a COVID safe manner. As a Board we are disappointed that we have been unable to attend our regular site visits, however, we have enjoyed seeing several videos of the innovative activities and the creativity being demonstrated by staff and customers during lockdown.

It has been a privilege to serve on Scope Board as the Deputy Chair over the last year, and I remain very excited by the sector and the opportunities that lie ahead for Scope.
