Board reflections

We are excited to welcome Professor Sanchia Aranda AM as the new Chair of our Board of Directors.

Professor Aranda brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role in leading Scope’s Board. With a strong commitment to reducing health and social inequalities, she has more than 20 years not-for-profit board experience along with five years as the CEO of a national not-for-profit.

Professor Aranda reflects on her new role:

I am excited to be joining Scope’s Board at such an important time, as the organisation embarks on its growth agenda to establish our presence as a leading national provider of disability support services.

I am proud to be part of an organisation where the voice and rights of people with disability drives our mission and shapes our decision making.

Working in healthcare for over 40 years with a background as a clinician, researcher, educator, and administrator, I have gained considerable experience in influencing policy within state and federal governments. Over the past 10 years, my work has increasingly focused on closing the gap in health outcomes for people experiencing disadvantage.

This commitment to reducing disadvantage drew me to join the Scope Board, knowing its mission to support each of our customers as equal and empowered citizens.

I have some first-hand experience of recruiting and employing people with disability and recognise the enormous social change that is needed to meet the ambitions of the Scope strategic plan. The need to increase real choice for people with disability, especially in housing, education, and employment, is clear. These are key priorities for Scope, and it will be a privilege to contribute to the achievement of these goals.

This next phase of our development will require a high level of strategic focus from the Board as we guide the organisation, and I’m looking forward to leading a highly skilled and committed Board and leadership team.
