COVID-19 snap lockdown – changes to services

Today, Acting Premier James Merlino announced the reintroduction of Stage 3 restrictions for Victoria as of midnight tonight.

There are 5 reasons to leave home:

  • Shopping for food and supplies
  • Authorised work
  • Care and caregiving
  • Exercise, for up to two hours and with one other person
  • Getting vaccinated

In line with Government directions and in support of keeping everyone safe, we have made the following changes to services:

Services

Therapy services

All face-to-face therapy services will be cancelled unless it is considered essential. Essential services will mostly be provided via telehealth.

 Day & Lifestyle Options

Our DLO centres and services will be closed during this lockdown.

Short Term Accommodation and Assistance (STAA)

We are contacting families to assess essential needs for STAA and will cancel any ‘non-essential’ bookings.

 Support Coordination services

Face-to-face support services will not be available and essential services will be provided by telehealth.

 SIL services – visitor restrictions

Visits will not be permitted, except for caregiving, compassionate reasons, or service provision and all visitors will need to check in

As before, our teams will work with customers and, families to find ways to be active, engaged and connected.

Vaccination

People with disability are eligible for the COVID-19 Vaccine.

Scope is working with customers to plan the best way to access the vaccine. The Commonwealth government inreach program has commenced in some areas and Scope will work with residents to access this where possible.

In addition,  customers can also choose to access the vaccine through the government’s vaccination centres or their GP.

SIL staff will continue to support customers to meet with their medical practitioner to discuss the vaccination and find access to the vaccine that is appropriate to them.

Our priority remains a focus on safety, and the care and support of each other and for our customers and families.
