The NDIS is working for Scope Barwon participant Belinda Humble.

“I have just got a new electric wheelchair and I’m so excited,” she said.

“I have wanted one for such a long time, so I can be more independent.”

Belinda’s 10-year-old chair was much more difficult to move around, meaning she got tired more quickly.

“I’m still getting used to driving it, but the things I love about it are I can switch it myself from manual to automatic, I can go faster and it reclines so I can have a rest when I feel tired.

“I especially love it because I can visit friends and places I couldn’t before, and I can get around at church easier.

“My new chair is so comfortable – it has a head rest and travellers which makes me feel safe when I travel in taxis. I’m very happy with my new chair!”

The new chair was a result of Belinda working with her Scope occupational therapist and the NDIA towards achieving her goal of better access through a wheelchair that better suits her needs.
