The NDIS is here
July 1 marked a significant change in the disability sector, as the full roll-out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) commenced.
In Victoria, the roll out starts in North East Metropolitan Melbourne, encompassing the local government areas of Banyule, Darebin, Nillumbik, Whittlesea and Yarra.
Scope has been actively preparing for this significant moment and we are excited about the prospect of more opportunities, choice and control for people with a disability.
We are committed to supporting you to embrace these new opportunities, and navigate the new system.
We have organised NDIS information sessions in North Melbourne for people we support and their families, and over the next few months, we will roll these out across Victoria.
We are also offering people we support the opportunity to learn how to set goals and prepare for transition in line with the NDIS.
At the same time, we are focussing on preparing our workforce.
Some of our key workforce initiatives include:
- Implementing a values-based approach to hiring support workers – so we attract the best staff who are driven by the right kind of relationships
- Creating dedicated roles that support a streamlined customer experience and workforce engagement
- Increasing the diversity of our workforce to respond to the diversity of the people we support
- Exploring opportunities that support people to gain employment experience that prepares them for work in the community
- Maintaining a human rights culture across the organisation, which is core to everything we do and reflected in our mission. As we grow and transform in the NDIS, we will uphold this strong foundation in each and every customer experience.
