Enabling Technology Use for People with Disability

I recently joined the Scope Board in July 2015 and I am very new to the disability sector.

I have worked in technology for the last 25 years and have been CIO (Chief Information Officer) with three different companies in the past 14 years. I joined the Scope Board because I wanted to increase technology usage by clients with varying disabilities to help improve the lives of those using it.

The challenges associated with technological changes to administrative systems that will assist in serving you after the transition to the NDIS, have also allowed me to get a fairly extensive orientation of Scope as an organisation, and allowed me to witness the high level of service that its clients receive.

As well as having visited a number of metropolitan and regional sites, I have also attended the Kaleidoscope art exhibition, been to the opening of one of our new houses, and more recently attended the “All Stars” event for the Balloon Football League. I was very impressed with the community inclusion scheme that local high school students were participating in, and the amount of enjoyment that it brought them to assist people with disabilities that were competing in the balloon football game.

I am honoured to be part of the Scope Board and feel extremely lucky to be working with such a talented and diverse group of board members. The NDIS is posing some unique technological challenges and it is reassuring to know that we have such a great team of dedicated Scope employees working to guide us all through this time of change. Thank you to all who have made me feel very welcome!
