A few words from Scope Board member Marcell Judkins
I feel very honoured to be part of the Scope Board. To be part of any organisation that is held in such high regard by our clients, the community and the government.
Prior to joining Scope, I worked with Kalparrin Early Childhood Intervention Services for a number of years as the Chair for their Board. This was a great experience and presented me with the opportunity to gain skills in a field that is very different from my day job. I particularly enjoyed hearing of the difference Kalparrin made to the children and their families. Over 7 years I saw the organisation grow and positively impact hundreds of families, providing them with support and specialist skills for children living with a range of disabilities.
When the opportunity to join the Scope Board arose, I was very excited to be considered for the role and the chance to further utilise my finance and strategy skills in the disability sector particularly as the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) begins to impact the sector.
Since joining Scope I have appreciated the comprehensive induction process in which I learnt a lot about Scope and how we are implementing our strategic plan and preparing for the NDIS. From my initial meeting a year ago a lot has already changed at Scope to help us prepare for the inevitable impact of the NDIS implementation.
I am truly amazed at the number and extent of the services that we provide and the number of people we support each and every day. I have also been particularly impressed with our CEO, Jennifer Fitzgerald and the rest of the Executive team – their dedication, skills and of course passion for what they do. As the NDIS becomes a reality, all disability support providers will be challenged by the need to be innovative and creative to deliver services. I think that Scope is well placed for this challenge!
