A few words from Scope Board member Mark Chittleborough
Positioning Scope for the new world
After a lifetime of working with large multinational companies, it was certainly a change coming onto the Scope Board. It was an honour to be asked and I am humbled by the opportunity to add value to this marvellous organisation.
The not-for-profit sector is seemingly at the opposite end of the spectrum to the corporate world. Well, that may be true on paper regarding their drive to generate profits, but the reality is quite different.
I see a high level of professionalism and efficiency in the Scope organisation. It was very refreshing to find a well-developed strategy and its professional implementation well underway. I am impressed with the calibre and performance of Scope managers and staff.
That said, there remain many challenges ahead for all of us. Whilst the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a tremendous opportunity, it is still in its infancy with many elements yet to be matured. It needs help from the sector and more specifically, leading organisations like Scope, to mold this new scheme into a workable and cost beneficial model.
Additionally, the NDIS now opens up our sector to professional service providers from the outside. We will need to develop new marketing skills to sell our excellent services to successfully compete in this new commercial marketplace.
So, an exciting time ahead. I look forward to working with you all to better position Scope for this new world.
