Get Active Together proves to be a big hit
The sports group is running in Melbourne's west until May 16th
In February Scope launched Get Active Together; a sports program where people with disability will learn six new sports over 14 weeks at sporting facilities throughout the western suburbs.
Scope has partnered with Tennis Victoria, St Albans Sports Club and MarShere Dance Studios to create inclusive opportunities in sport for people with disability.
The Get Active Together program seeks to introduce fun and accessible sports to participants and to encourage people to maintain an active lifestyle.
“The program offers a wide variety of sports that have something for everyone.” said Scope CEO Jennifer Fitzgerald.
“We sought to open up different pathways for participants to engage in active living.
“Through the Get Active Together program, participants of the program are able to find the sports that are right for them. The program also supports them to find enjoyment and fulfilment in pursuing an active lifestyle,” she said.
With support from some of Victoria’s top coaches, the participants have tried their hands at cricket, AFL, walking and tennis, and are looking forward to dance and exercise classes over the next few weeks.
The Get Active Together program is running until May 16th and new participants are able join the program at any time.
