CEO Message

I am pleased to be able to update you on Scope activity over the past twelve months, and in particular our response to the challenges of the Coronavirus [COVID-19] pandemic. As a whole team, we responded in a planned and coordinated way. Everyone was responsive to the evolving situation, making sure they were on top of the guidelines as they changed. One of the key things we endeavoured to do was to ensure people understood what was happening, and what their choices and responsibilities were. To do this, we provided Easy English resources and social stories, and Key Word Sign videos to support communication about Coronavirus, social distancing and being CovidSafe. These were also shared with the wider sector.

We also ensured staff had the resources, training and personal protective equipment needed to deliver supports safely. We implemented adjustments to our services, making sure customers had access to essential supports and services. One key initiative was the introduction of Telepractice, delivering therapy through a range of online channels. I’ve been impressed by the resilience and achievements of our customers in the face of the global pandemic.

While we are still on the journey towards a new normal, we remain vigilant and dedicated to minimising the spread of the virus and keeping everyone safe. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank our staff, for their commitment to everyone’s safety and wellbeing.

I would also like to acknowledge that the support from you, our loyal donors, has been incredible during this difficult time and truly has made a difference in helping us to continue to enable each person we support to live as empowered and equal citizens.

We look forward to 2021 with hope and the knowledge that we can continue to face any challenge
together.

On behalf of the Scope team, I wish you and your family a wonderful year.

Kind regards,

Dr Jennifer Fitzgerald
