Scope programs receive $20,000 boost from Commonwealth bank grants
Scope’s music and holiday programs for young people with a disability received a encouraging boost, thanks to a $20,000 grant from Commonwealth Bank Chelsea and Mordialloc branches.
Commonwealth Branch Manager Steven Price said, “We’re proud to help make these programs possible for young people and kids with a disability and back Scope in supporting the local community.”
Scope General Manager Jenni Hendy said, “These grants will help Scope keep these programs going, supporting young people with a disability learn new skills, make friends and grow their independence.”
Scope’s Southern Recharge Holiday Program gives children with a disability the opportunity to have a fun and engaging holiday break while families recharge their batteries.
“The grant will also enable Scope to buy equipment for our music therapy program so young people can create and record their own music,” added Jenni Hendy. Scope’s music therapy program uses the power of music to help teenagers and young adults learn social skills, build self-esteem, and engage in the wider community.
The music therapy program gives young people with disabilities the opportunity to learn and play musical instruments in a group, and explore opportunities to perform at local community events.
