Disability Royal Commission releases fifth issues paper on Emergency Planning and Response

The Disability Royal Commission has released a fifth issues paper on Emergency Planning and Response for people with disability during times of crisis and emergency.

The Disability Royal Commission has released a fifth issues paper exploring Emergency Planning and Response for people with Disability.

As a result of the current unprecedented emergency of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, following the summer bushfires crisis the Disability Royal Commission are concerned about people with disability being overlooked or left behind during emergencies. People with disability can be severely affected by emergencies and maybe at a higher risk of experiencing violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation at these times.

The purpose of this Issues Paper is to invite information from the public on emergency planning and response.

The paper asks 11 questions to help people and organisations to provide responses.

The Royal Commission encourages responses from individuals and organisations to the issues paper by 17 July 2020, although submissions will also be accepted after that date.

Detailed information on the Emergency Planning and Response Issues Paper and how to respond can be found on the Disability Royal Commission website.
