2021 has already brought us the challenge of the circuit-breaker lockdown last month, requiring us to all do our part to keep each other safe. We were so pleased to return to providing services in a COVID-safe way, and we are confident we can respond well to any challenges ahead.

COVID-19 vaccine

The COVID-19 vaccine rollout is a significant step forward in finding a sustainable ‘COVID normal’. It’s great news that the government has prioritised people receiving disability support services and frontline workers in the sector. We’re working closely with key agencies to support timely and efficient access to the vaccine for customers and staff.

Appointment of new Chair

We recently announced the appointment of Professor Sanchia Aranda AM as Chair. Professor Aranda brings extensive experience to Scope, having held a number a senior Executive and Board positions with national bodies and organisations. We are thrilled to have someone of Professor Aranda’s calibre and passion to lead our Board.

Our outgoing Chair David Lloyd Jones completed his tenure after 16 years of service as a Director and Board Committee member. As Deputy Chair and Chair for six of those years, he’s led Scope throughout a period of immense change and growth, and we thank David for his leadership and commitment to supporting people with disability.

Build Our Future 21

We will be holding an online symposium this July for customers, their families, and carers. ‘Build Our Future 21’ will be a collaborative event where people can share their plans and ideas for the future and talk about what’s important to them.

This event will also help us understand how we can improve our services to better support you. I hope you’ll be able to join us.

Operational redesign

Over the last six months, we have been reorganising our operations along service lines. This means that instead of our four geographic divisions, we will have four service lines. Over time, this new structure will enable us to deliver a more consistent Scope ‘experience’ across all our services. Wherever you are, you can be confident that you’re receiving the Scope approach to services.
